Blyth Academy The Glebe and honour roll students receive top recognition across Canadian Globeducate schools

This year, Blyth Academy The Glebe was recognized by Globeducate as Canada’s Top School of the Year. This achievement is a testament to the dedication, talent and support of the amazing staff in Ottawa and the families who trust them to take care of their children every year. The one-on-one support that the staff provides gives student real opportunities to go outside their perceived limits and accomplish goals set every year by the student, guidance, and teachers. This type of support is showcased in the success of two unlikely honour roll students, Anna B.M. and Alex G. They were recognized by Globeducate as outstanding students of the year.

Anna B.M. joined Blyth Academy Ottawa (now Blyth Academy The Glebe) in her Grade 9 year, at a time when she was struggling in school. Last week, Anna stood on stage at our graduation ceremony and delivered a speech to staff, thanking them for the impact on her life.  Anna is now a role model to her peers and was nominated by them to deliver that speech. She is also the 2022 recipient of the Governor General’s Academic Medal, the most prestigious award Canadian students can be awarded upon graduation, for highest overall mark. She beat three other students in contention for the award. Anna is a competitive marksman in her free time and will be studying Computer Science, Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Toronto.

Alex G. has a very similar story. He joined Blyth Academy Ottawa in Grade 10, at a time when school was not his priority. Like Anna, Alex has made an amazing transformation. A role model for peers, head of student council, recipient of the Life of Blyth award at graduation, and also stood on stage at the graduation and delivered a very thoughtful and mature speech to parents, thanking them all for everything they do. He was also the other competitor for this year’s Governor General’s Academic Medal. In addition to being exceptionally strong academically across all subjects, Alex is an award winner in recent years in provincial math competitions. Alex will be studying Computer Science at McMaster University.
