YOUR STUDENT-CENTRED PRIVATE SCHOOL
Blyth Academy Orbit is our newest campus, which revolves around the same principles and academic structure as our physical schools, but it operates in the virtual space. Our signature small class sizes, personalized learning, and rigorous academics are all in effect at Blyth Academy Orbit, which opens up possibilities for students in Grades 9 to 12, near and far, to take part in our programming without the need to be present in our physical classrooms.

We conduct live, teacher-led classes through a video conferencing platform, and utilize a "cameras on" policy to maximize student engagement and participation. Attend classes with your classmates at regularly scheduled times during traditional school hours, with all of the benefits of our physical campuses from the comfort of home.
Our classes have an average size of 12 students, allowing teachers to spend significant individualized time with each student. There’s no “back row” in classrooms this small. Students are more comfortable speaking up in this environment.
Preparation for post-secondary education is the primary focus with increased attention on critical thinking, interpreting information, independent learning, and active participation in classes and activities. Our strong guidance department works with each student to define their pathway.

Ways to Learn
Full-Year Programs
We offer a comprehensive full-time program for Grades 9-12. Students studying with us for the full year benefit from our targeted programs for specific years: Elementary & Middle School, the LaunchPad Program in Grades 9 & 10, and the Post-Secondary Preparation Program in Grades 11 & 12.
Term by Term Options
For high school we have four intake periods during our school year to make starting at Blyth Academy as flexible as possible (September, November, February, April). This is possible due to our quadmester structure (four terms) which allows for flexibility for students who want to try us out or who are looking for extra credits in a gap year. Elementary & middle school students can join at any time.
Night School
Night School allows students to maintain registration with their home school while benefitting from our small class sizes and personalized approach.
Summer School
Summer School offers highly personalized and experiential learning that enhances student's education and sets them up for a successful fall semester.
Private Courses
Private Studies provide students in Grades 9 – 12 with a one-on-one learning experience in which teachers tailor the lessons to the needs and schedule of the individual student.

Extracurriculars & 'Field Trips'
Wellness Wednesdays
One of our popular extracurriculars is our Wellness Wednesdays. Students really enjoy having some time off from academics to focus on their mental and physical well-being.
These sessions coincide with our Health and Physical Education PLF4M class (Recreation and Healthy Active Living Leadership).
'Field Trip' Classes
Even in the virtual space we have the ability to bring our students into other learning environments through our various partners. For example students were very excited to be able to take a virtual Visual Arts (AVI4M) class from the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Our 'field trips' also provide post-secondary introductory classes from Universities like Queens' University, including classes in Anatomy and Food & Nutrition.

Aubrey has accomplished so much, and been an example to his colleagues, including through his active participation in Math Club. Aubrey succeeded brilliantly in Calculus & Vectors and Advanced Functions, and is currently studying Data Management with Mr Trochanowski.
This young man has been described as exhibiting "a knack for quickly coming up with insightful and efficient solutions to problems," and whose creative and insightful approach to mathematics inspired him to write the University of Waterloo's Senior Mathematics Contest, and next month, the Euclid Contest as well.
-Mr Trochanowski
Aubrey's goal is to study mathematics at the University of Toronto St George campus, just around the corner from us - perhaps because, in Euclidean terms, it is the shortest distance between this school and his next one.
Thank you to all of the staff and teachers for your help this year in particular but also throughout the time that Gianluca attended Blyth. He loved attending Blyth and still talks about it to this day… that it was the best decision to attend and he had wished he started earlier. Blyth made a great positive impact on his scholastic endeavors. A big thank you to the team at Blyth. Blyth, your campus is truly the best high school in the city!

Ms. Lilliman is an outstanding educator. I truly appreciated her engagement, energy, enthusiasm, availability and willingness to work individually with her students throughout the term. Her approach was inspiring and was truly a standout performance. She is another great teacher that truly understands her role in shaping the futures of our children.
Alice Yau, Parent
Switching to Blyth was one of the best choices I have ever made. I have learned so much, and gained so many valuable skills that I will be able to use over the course of my lifetime. I want to thank Michelle, my guidance counsellor, for always pushing me to succeed. I still find it humorous that in Term One I was barely able to make it into college, and now I am going to Laurier. My whole perception on school has changed drastically and I cannot express my gratitude enough to all the teachers at Blyth but especially to Michelle and Paul.
