Teacher Spotlight
Meet Mr. Hamada Kassam.
Hi, I'm Hamada. I am an assistant professor of U.S. literature who earned his MA and PhD degrees in literature at the University of Essex, UK. I have taught a range of literature, composition, communication and social science courses in the UK, UAE, and Canada. I specialize in nineteenth-century US literature, history, and politics, particularly frontier humor and its profound impact on Mark Twain’s career and greatest works. I have participated in international conferences in the US and UK, and my work has been published in the Mark Twain Annual, Mark Twain Journal, The Journal of Transnational American Studies (JTAS), and Elmira College Center for Mark Twain Studies, which offered me an honorary research-in-residence fellowship at Quarry Farm in 2016.
