One of the most important skills for math students to learn and practice is a strong understanding of mathematical concepts, which comes from consistent practice. Additionally, believing in themselves is crucial for their success.

I have many great memories since working at Blyth. One of my favorite stories as a teacher was when my former principal jokingly asked if I had changed my name. Many families and students in the community would ask about the Blyth Mississauga math teacher. There have been hilarious attempted variations of my name like Halmond, Halm, and ‘Lime. Beyond the classroom, it is phenomenal to hear from students about their successes in university and their careers upon graduating.

The most rewarding aspect of being a teacher is witnessing students exceed their own expectations and achieve outstanding success. Seeing students build their confidence to tackle high-level math problems through encouragement is one of the many highlights.

In my free time, I enjoy gardening, hiking, and spending time outdoors in nature with my family.
