Blyth Academy London is a private school offering experiential private education for students in Grades 9 – 12 in one of the city's notable heritage buildings. We offer an academic experience that is significantly different from other private and public schools. Our approach is designed to fully engage the students in the academic process with a genuine learning experience founded upon curiosity, creativity, and innovative thinking. Our campus is actively involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program, which is an internationally recognized program for young people which creates opportunities to develop skills, be physically active, give service, and experience adventure.
We are Ontario Ministry inspected and adhere to all provincial standards. BSID #668596

COVID 19: For information on how we're keeping students and staff safe please click here.

Small Class Sizes

Our classes have an average size of 12 students, allowing teachers to spend significant individualized time with each student. There’s no “back row” in classrooms this small. Students are more comfortable speaking up in this environment.

Four-Term Structure

We’ve been running quadmesters for over 10 years with great success. This four-term structure focuses on two subjects per term, promoting a deeper understanding of subjects in addition to creating the flexibility for students to join Blyth Academy at any term during the school year.

Robust University Preparation

Preparation for post-secondary education is the primary focus with increased attention on critical thinking, interpreting information, independent learning, and active participation in classes and activities. Our strong guidance department works with each student to define their pathway.

Clubs & Extracurriculars

Our students are connected to the school not only through academics but also through extra-curricular activities and school events, and they drive what happens here. Popular clubs include the Student Council, Math Club, and Science Fair Club, and Robotics Club. Our students also enjoy athletic activities, including intramural basketball, soccer, and ball hockey.

Student Engagement

The communities around our school play an integral part in shaping our school community. Whether we’re having a health class in the park, or visiting a local business for our entrepreneurship class, we are connected to our community and our city through experiential learning. Our Grade 9 and 10 students also get involved in various additional activities in our LaunchPad program, including working toward the Duke of Edinburg Bronze Level Certificate.

Jason Aswald

London Student

Jason started his journey with Blyth in Grade 8 (2019), reaching ahead with Blyth Academy Online. He believes in personalized learning experiences, especially collaborating in small groups where the teachers are approachable and enthusiastic about a high-achieving positive team effort. For this reason, he truly enjoys the learning community at Blyth London, his preferred school since 2020. Here, despite the struggles of lockdowns, extracurricular activities (safely done over Zoom) are keeping the school spirit alive. As a result, he feels connected to his school and that he is serving a purpose for his school community even while attending remotely this year.

While only in Grade 10, he was recently accepted into his first undergraduate university course at Harvard Summer School. He is looking forward to broadening his understanding of science. He is happy to further explore vibrant and resourceful learning environments, such as the one he has found at Blyth and the one he will be exploring internationally this summer at Harvard. He hopes to contribute his experiences to student council wishing to help students get excited about learning together the same way everybody gets excited about playing sports for a great team. He will be taking BIOS S-1B “Introduction to Organismic and Evolutionary Biology” (a university undergrad credit course). He was able to prepare thanks to the in-depth and university-relevant science education offered at Blyth.

We picked Blyth Academy because we did not want our child to be just a number like in the public school system. The staff is always approachable, emergencies are dealt with immediately and problems are discussed and solved quickly for the benefit of the student, not for the convenience of the teacher. Ideal for children with a unique learning approach, the small classes make it possible to get individual attention whenever necessary. Blyth has made all the difference for our son, who finally finds school interesting!Schotter Family

We are thrilled with our experience at Blyth Academy London. The classes are small and the teachers inspired our son to learn and to work hard. It was obvious to us as parents that the teachers took the time to get to know our son and to bring out his potential in a way that had not been done before. The leadership is excellent and responsive and we especially appreciated the patient and thorough guidance.Steve & Sondy Taran, Parents

Blyth has a nurturing, safe environment of devoted staff and teachers who have encouraged our son to grow and reach his full potential in his high school years. The teachers keep the small classes engaged and our son wanting to learn and produce his best work. Blyth has become an extension of our family for our son. We give a 5-star rating to Blyth Academy.Joan & Clay Grandy, Parents
