I wear my passions on my sleeve, and I hope this comes out in my teaching. I don’t teach things just for the sake of it because students can always tell when their teacher is disinterested. I try to bring energy and enthusiasm each day since I genuinely care and am interested in the material. Above all else, students would feel supported regardless of their academic performance.

Whenever a former student reaches out to update me on what they are doing. It’s never expected, but it’s always great to hear. I think we teachers sometimes forget students continue to grow after high school. We may not realize our impact until years later.

The daily sense of accomplishment. Sometimes an informal conversation about things outside the classroom can make a huge difference. A quick chat in the hallway can be more impactful than even the most detailed lessons. I get to teach the subjects I’m personally interested in as well.

Being introspective and to never stop learning and growing as a person. The good memories are just as valuable as the bad ones. Use both to inform yourself moving forward. It’s not about what you did yesterday, but what you’re going to do today.
