If someone walked into your classroom tomorrow, what would they see, hear, and feel? They would see a lot of poor handwriting and diagrams on the whiteboard from both myself and students, and me trying to disseminate solutions and discuss with the class on various problems and strategies. In addition to math talk, there will undoubtedly be talk about food and cooking.

Not a specific memory, but whenever students who I’ve taught return to Blyth to visit or message me via email to say that what they did in my class more than prepared them for the next step in their math learning. It is the most validating and encouraging thing to me as an educator.

Helping individuals get where they want to be, and sometimes helping individuals find out where they want to be.
