Owen has seen his hockey career soar to new heights since his school days at Blyth Academy. After stints with the Mississauga Steelheads and Saginaw Spirit in the OHL, Owen now proudly represents the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL.
Thanks to our partnership with the NHLPA and Hockey Equality, Shamar attended Blyth Academy on a full-ride scholarship. He played for the Don Mills AAA Flyers before being drafted 19th overall by the Barrie Colts.
Ty attended school and trained at Blyth Academy from Grade 7 to 10 before being drafted 1st overall in the OHL draft. In 2022, he was drafted by the Seattle Kraken and in 2024 he competed for Team Canada at the World Juniors.

Our on-site fitness center is equipped with a dedicated trainer to provide thorough off-ice conditioning and proactive injury prevention methods. These combined resources are integral to building an environment where athletes can sharpen their abilities, boost their fitness levels, and achieve excellence in hockey and beyond.
Advanced Hockey Training

Blyth Academy Advanced Hockey is a co-ed individual skill development program held at Scotiabank Pond, and led by our professional instructors. Athletes commit to four days a week of intensive on-ice training, each session lasting an hour before school, ensuring they start their day with focus and energy. Complementing the on-ice regimen, afternoons are dedicated to strength and conditioning with our in-house trainer to enhance physical conditioning, while specialized sessions with Matt Nichol's team at Paragenix a few times a month provide a competitive edge by developing players strength, flexibility and kinesthetic IQ.

With personalized on-ice coaching, exciting game schedules, and exclusive tournaments competing against teams from throughout North America, our team is here to handle the details, from travel to conditioning, so your child can focus on playing their best.
Engage in a competitive 50+ game schedule against other prep teams from North America, developing and showcasing your skills and competitiveness as you move to the next level.
Compete in the NAPHL, a prep hockey league consisting of showcase weekends with teams from across Ontario, Quebec, and Northeastern US for exposure to Junior and collegiate scouts.
Enjoy hassle-free travel arrangements with transportation and accommodation, ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience for players and families.
Experience a fully integrated training program with over 160 hours of on-ice instruction where all practices and off-ice training are conducted during school hours. This eliminates the need for rushing from school to the rink and gym, allowing our athletes more time for homework, family, and essential rest and recovery.

The morning training schedule is designed to seamlessly integrate with academic sessions. Student-athletes engage in an hour of on-ice training each morning before classes from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Students then get a break and snack before heading to class at 10:00 a.m. School concludes at 3:30 p.m. for elementary and 3:15 p.m. for high school.
Our team of elite coaches consists of experienced professionals dedicated to nurturing the talents of young athletes. Each coach brings a unique set of skills and expertise to the team, providing personalized guidance and mentorship to help players reach their full potential. All our coaches currently coach teams across the GTA including in the GTHL, OJHL, and USports, bringing a wealth of knowledge of the local hockey landscape and the skills needed to reach the next level.

Students that join the Varsity Prep Hockey team will face top Canadian and American prep teams in exhibition games and tournaments and compete in five NAPHL showcase tournaments throughout the year.
Yes, included in the prep hockey team fees is all transportation and accommodation costs. We arrange all logistics, including transportation and accommodation, for a seamless experience during competitions.
Scholarship opportunities within the program are designed to recognize and support talented student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional skill and dedication to hockey and academics. Our student-athletes have access to scholarships and financial aid and we encourage you to reach out to the school to learn more. In addition, through Hockey Equality, we offer annual full-ride scholarships to Blyth Academy.
The training program is personalized through regular performance assessments and customized training plans. Coaches focus on individual student-athletes’ strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring that each student’s development is continuous and tailored to their unique needs.
In conjunction with the morning skills training, students in the program will benefit from comprehensive strength and conditioning sessions. These sessions are led by our experienced performance coach, who specializes in the athletic development of young talent. Each athlete receives personalized attention to enhance their physical fitness and achieve their individual performance objectives. Our in-house gym, along with collaborations with local fitness centers, provides the ideal setting for rigorous and targeted fitness regimens.
The Advanced Hockey Training Program welcomes student-athletes from grades 4 to 12. Morning training sessions are divided by age group so that players can learn and advance alongside similarly skilled players. Our coaching team is adept at crafting tailored training plans that cater to the unique needs of each player. This individualized approach guarantees that every athlete, irrespective of age or skill level, progresses at a pace that aligns with their personal development goals.
Support systems are in place to help student-athletes balance their hockey training with academic responsibilities. This includes a supportive educational environment, access to academic resources, and guidance from both coaches and educators to ensure success in both areas. Over 90% of our school is comprised of student-athletes so all staff are experienced in developing lesson plans that work for student-athletes.
Blyth Academy offers an optional meal plan for student-athletes, which is designed to support their nutritional needs and busy schedules. The meal plan includes a variety of healthy and balanced meals catering to young athletes' dietary requirements. The meal plan includes a morning snack and smoothie after training and a full lunch.
At Blyth Academy, we take pride in our small class sizes, maintaining an average ratio of 12:1. This enables our teachers to establish personal connections with each student and their parents, working closely with them to help achieve their educational goals. Our commitment to small class sizes extends to our schools, where our principal, guidance counselor, and campus administrator also can engage with students individually, offering support when needed.
At Blyth Academy, fostering open and honest communication with parents is one of our core principles. Our teachers oversee two small classes each term, enabling them to dedicate time to regularly update parents on their child's progress. Additionally, our close-knit communities empower our principal and guidance counselor to swiftly address any parental inquiries or concerns.
Our teachers make use of Edsby, our learning management platform, to facilitate communication and share academic milestones and resources. This platform allows parents to access real-time updates on their child's performance and gain clarity on upcoming projects or tests.
