Message From the Principal
Welcome to Blyth Academy Downsview Park School for Elite Athletes! We focus on assisting our student-athletes in their academic, athletic and character development, creating a safe, respectful and exciting learning environment for all. With many notable Jr. A, OHL, NCAA, NHL and MLS alumni, our programs are proven to ensure success.
I am a firm believer in a whole school approach and one of our major focuses is to ensure ongoing communication between school and home. As such, we are able to better enhance your child’s educational and athletic experiences. We offer a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, leadership opportunities and clubs that vary each year depending on the interests of our students to engage your children in the student life of the school.
We encourage you to schedule a school tour to see our classrooms and meet our teachers, and we invite your child to spend a day with us to experience a “Day in the Life” of a Blyth student. We are excited to work with your child and show you all of the amazing aspects of our school!

Teacher Spotlight
Jasmine Zawawi
Ms. Zawawi is a graduate of the University of Toronto Master of Teaching program, and is currently in her fifth year of teaching. Prior to joining the team at Blyth in 2020, she taught Grade 5 at an international school in Shanghai, China!
Q. What is one skill you think every student should learn?
One quality Ms. Z thinks every student should develop is resilience. She understands that students experience an incredible amount of growth, both physically and mentally, on a daily basis. She believes developing resilience can help students deal with the ups and downs of everyday life, while instilling the skills needed to approach new situations and experiences with a growth mindset.

Small class sizes allow teachers like Ms. Z to offer a personalized approach to learning and classrooms that create community. Each student has a place and feels heard and seen.
Throughout virtual learning, Blyth Academy Downsview Park for Elite Athletes has organized guest speakers to keep students engaged and motivate to work hard in their academics and athletics.
