Student-Athlete Emmanuelle Gendron Commits To Div 1 Holy Cross University

Congratulations to current student-Athlete Emmanuelle Gendron, who committed to Holy Cross University starting in the fall of 2023! Holy Cross University is an NCAA Division I hockey program located in Worcester, Massachusetts that plays in the Hockey East Association.

Manny is currently in her second year at Blyth Academy@CIHA, where she gets daily on and off-ice workouts along with a regular school schedule on campus. She also plays locally for the U22 Ottawa Jr. Lady 67’s and is their team’s leading scorer with 7 points in 8 games.

While Holy Cross has been scouting Manny for some time now, universities are not allowed to have direct contact with players until they turn 16. Shortly after Manny’s 16th birthday this spring, Holy Cross made contact and they stayed connected throughout the summer, and in early November, Manny was invited for an official visit, and she was blown away by the experience.

During the tour, Manny met current players, coaching staff, and saw the inner workings of the university’s hockey program and had a glimpse into the academic side of things. She was offered a scholarship at the end of her visit and will become a Holy Cross Crusader in 2023!

Partway through the 2020-2021 season, during the COVID pandemic when ice time was hard to come by Manny joined CIHA to help reach her goal to play for a NCAA Division I hockey program. “Quickly I realized that going to CIHA meant being part of an amazing family that would help me develop as an athlete, but also as a student, practicing my second language on a daily basis-what a challenge!” said Manny. “The Blyth Academy@CIHA experience has helped me build my confidence and realize that I have the ability to study in my second language in post-secondary studies. I also believe that being part of a school that truly understands an athlete’s lifestyle has enabled me to concentrate on my hockey journey while being supported academically.”

Congratulations again to Manny who has shown that her hard work on the ice, in the gym and in classroom is paying off! Keep up the great work!
