Elite Hockey Boarding School

Blyth Academy@CIHA offers a top-quality boarding school education and elite hockey program for domestic and international hockey players from grades 7-12. With its purpose-built state-of-the-art campus Blyth Academy@CIHA provides everything a student athlete needs to be successful, all in one amazing location. The school also offers a day program for local athletes.

Since everything is conveniently in one location, no academic time is lost due to travel to and from school and practice. Students can quickly transition from the ice to the classroom and focus on achieving their academic goals. Guided by talented passionate teachers, our students are engaged in an academic program that promotes critical thinking and creativity through student-centred lessons. They become global citizens and develop life-long friendships that span across the world.

Located on the doorstep of Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, and Quebec’s largest city, Montreal, our student-athletes have many opportunities to experience the region’s rich culture and history. Throughout the year, we plan a wide range of interesting field trips and excursions to discover some of the most sought-after attractions of the vibrant and scenic national capital region.

Message From the Principal

Welcome to Blyth Academy@CIHA, located on a large beautiful campus along the Ottawa River. With state-of-the-art hockey facilities, top-level coaching, and a world-class educational offering, we are custom built for hockey players wishing to excel. If you are not already familiar with us, I invite you to come visit and see, firsthand, the amazing opportunities we have to offer student-athletes.

As Principal, I am personally committed to ensuring our students build a strong foundation in their academic and life skills, before embarking on post-secondary education and beyond. Together, with my remarkable faculty, we maintain close and consistent communication with the students, families, and coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to overall student success.

What Makes Our Campus Unique?

Students at Blyth Academy@CIHA have the advantage of a completely integrated academic and athletic program. Their ice and off-ice training are built into their daily school schedule and the teaching staff work closely with the coaching staff to ensure every student’s success. Students can walk a few steps from their dormitory to eat breakfast in the cafeteria, and then a few steps further and they are inside the arena, which houses the school, ice rinks, fitness center, fully equipped therapy room, dressing rooms, dry rooms, and a pro shop.


 

Teacher Spotlight

Nevin Guy

I recently graduated from Queen’s University (2021) and began my teaching career at CIH Academy. This year, I am teaching grades 7-10 Social Sciences and English. With a background in hockey, CIH has been the perfect fit for me. I have been able to begin a teaching career that includes working as a hockey coach with aspiring student-athletes at the Academy.

Q. If someone walked into your classroom tomorrow, what would they see, hear, and feel?
You would see a lot of student interaction and collaboration. Students are encouraged to use their voice, communicate and form relationships amongst each other. All students are welcomed into a positive team environment where they are all encouraged to learn and grow.
