Course Overview
Grade 7 Geography online is designed for students to learn about physical patterns in a changing world and the world’s natural resources (use and sustainability). They will explore the ever-changing physical patterns of our world and delve into the sustainable utilization of its invaluable resources. From landforms and water systems to natural resource management and preservation, this course encourages students to explore the dynamic interactions shaping our planet.
COURSE OUTLINE
Below is a course outline for the online Grade 7 Geography course offered by Blyth Academy. As the Ontario curriculum is set by the Ontario Ministry of Education, the course and skills learned remain the same whether you take it in person or online.
UNIT ONE
Physical Patterns in a Changing World
In this unit, students will explore landforms and how they change, challenges caused by the earth’s forces, physical characteristics of the water systems, changes to the water systems, protecting earth’s rivers and oceans, describing climate changes, characteristics of natural vegetation regions, natural and human changes to vegetation.
UNIT TWO
Our World’s Natural Resources: Use and Sustainability
In this unit, students will establish what a natural resource is. They will learn about resources in Canada, the impact of natural resource use (i.e., the world’s most essential natural resources and using natural resources), different perspectives on natural resources, mining techniques, forestry techniques, effects of natural resource extraction, environmental responses to resource extraction, and explore organizations that care about natural resources.
ASSESSMENT
The final grade a student achieves will represent the quality of their overall achievement of expectations for the course. The final grade will be determined by evaluations conducted throughout the duration of the course.
