Course Overview
BEP2O: Launching and Leading a Business introduces students to the world of business leadership and entrepreneurship. Students will explore core business functions, develop critical entrepreneurial and management skills, and gain insights into how businesses operate and grow in competitive environments. Through various assessments, discussions, and real-world applications, students will build the knowledge needed to succeed in business leadership or entrepreneurial ventures. This course emphasizes leadership, project management, business ethics, and financial literacy.
Course Outline

UNIT ONE
Business Leadership and Project Management
In this unit, students will examine different leadership styles and learn how effective leadership drives business success. They will assess their own leadership potential, explore ethical decision-making, and apply leadership strategies to manage teams and projects. Additionally, students will be introduced to the basics of project management, including goal setting, resource allocation, and risk management. By the end of the unit, students will understand how leadership and project management are vital in driving business goals and ensuring operational success.
UNIT TWO
Economic Foundations and Technology
This unit focuses on key economic principles that impact businesses, such as supply and demand, market structures, and the role of competition. Students will also explore how digital technologies and data security influence business operations in today's global economy. Topics include the benefits and risks of business technologies, the importance of cybersecurity, and how businesses adapt to technological changes to remain competitive. By the end of this unit, students will have a strong understanding of how economic forces and technological advancements shape business strategies.
UNIT THREE
Business Functions and Career Connections
In this unit, students will learn about the major business functions—marketing, finance, human resources, and operations—and how they work together to support a business’s success. Students will analyze financial statements, explore human resource management strategies, and investigate marketing tactics. The unit also introduces students to potential careers in business and how the skills they are learning can be applied to various business-related fields. Real-world examples and case studies will help students understand how each function plays a role in achieving a company’s goals.
UNIT FOUR
Launching and Leading an Entrepreneurial Venture
In the final unit, students will bring together the knowledge and skills developed throughout the course to create and launch their own entrepreneurial ventures. They will design, refine, and pitch business ideas, prepare financial plans, and explore funding options. Students will also develop strategies for marketing and scaling their ventures. The unit culminates in a Culminating Assignment, where students will present their business plans and pitch their ideas, demonstrating their entrepreneurial mindset and ability to lead a successful business.
