(1) The OSSLT fee applies only to full-time Blyth Academy Online students in Grades 10, 11, and 12. This fee covers the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) when booked through Blyth Academy Online and written at a Blyth Academy campus.

1. All Tuition & Fees listed are in Canadian Dollars (CAD).
2. A domestic student is defined as a student who is either a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
3. An international student is defined as a student who is neither a Canadian Citizen nor Permanent Resident.
4. International full-time program OSR Admin Fee of $250 is a non-refundable charge.
5. The OSR Admin Fee must be paid within 30 days of enrollment.
6. Students may transfer their courses to another program at an additional transfer fee.
7. Full-year students are not permitted to substitute full-time courses for part-time courses.
8. We may impose a surcharge on credit cards that is not greater than our cost of acceptance.

You’ll need to upload the following to the Student/Parent Portal (Genius):

  • Proof of prerequisite (final report card, transcript, or credit counseling summary).
  • Valid photo ID (government-issued or student ID).

Your course begins immediately after registration! Once you sign up, you’ll receive a welcome email with all the details you need, including login instructions and how to submit prerequisite documents.

For Grades 11 & 12:

  • All attempts, withdrawals, and repeats of courses are recorded on the Ontario Student Transcript (OST).
  • Withdrawals after 5 instructional days following the midterm report will be recorded on the Ontario Student Transcript (OST).
  • Withdrawals before this period are not recorded.

For Grades 9 & 10:

  • Withdrawals are not recorded on the OST.

No, promotional offers only apply to Blyth Academy Online courses (self-paced learning).

Course completion times vary based on your schedule, subject comfort level, and learning pace. On average, students finish in 12 weeks, with top students finishing in as little as 5 weeks. You will have up to 365 days to complete your course. Within you course, you can use the built-in pacing module to help keep you on schedule.

  • You have one year from registration to complete your course.
  • Extensions beyond one year require a $200 fee.
  • Course changes are allowed within 90 days of enrollment.
  • A $200 transfer fee applies for course changes requested 30+ days after registration.

No, our courses are self-paced with no set due dates. However, be mindful of university/college application deadlines and your home school’s graduation timeline.

Any Monday-Friday while enrolled in the course—even if you don’t log in. This includes the summer.

Students can contact their teachers via the Brightspace email system or schedule a video call using the built-in conferencing tool. To book a session, send your teacher a message directly in Brightspace.

Our courses use a mix of interactive and multimedia learning to suit different learning styles, including:

  • Teacher-created videos & presentations
  • Written notes & reading materials
  • Khan Academy & YouTube videos
  • Interactive labs, models, and tools (e.g., Gizmos, Prezi, Live Binders)
  • Discussion forums & collaborative activities

We support IEP accommodations, including:

  • Extended time (1.5x if IEPs state “extra time” or 2x if the IEPs explicitly state so).
  • Teacher-approved memory aids.
  • Assistive technology.

Important Notes:

  • Our asynchronous format may not suit every student’s needs. Contact support@blythacademyonline.com before enrolling.
  • Video assessments are integral to the credibility of our assessment practices for many courses and thus cannot be waived.

Yes! One parent per student receives a Genius account for progress tracking. Log in here.

Assessments include a combination of quizzes, tests, discussions, and assignments. Some courses may require students to appear on video for certain assessments to ensure academic integrity.

  • Quizzes and tests are not proctored.
  • We expect students to uphold academic integrity—violations like plagiarism or outside assistance will result in consequences.
  • Exams do not need to be scheduled in advance — students can complete them when ready.
  • Exams are proctored via Integrity Advocate. Learn more here.
  • The exam fee must be paid at least two business days before writing. See payment details here.

Your midterm grading point is outlined in your course’s Welcome to Your Course lesson. Midterm grades are typically issued when you’ve completed half of the course.

  • Be sure to meet any university/college application deadlines requiring midterm grades.
  • Your teacher will submit your final grade within 5 business days after your exam.
  • Your report card will be generated within another 5 business days.
  • Report cards will be sent to the student’s home school.
  • Digital copies are available in the Student/Parent Portal (Genius).
  • Note: Physical report cards will not be mailed.

We send a copy of your final report card to your home school. They will add your credit to your transcript.

  • A transcript is a permanent record of all high school courses and final grades.
  • A report card details your course grade, learning skills, and teacher comments for a single course.
  • Transcripts are required for post-secondary applications, while report cards track individual courses.

Once you provide your OUAC/OCAS number via the Post-Secondary Transmission Form in your course, we will send your midterm and final grades to OUAC/OCAS. Learn more here.

Yes! Ontario schools must add all BAO-earned credits to your transcript.

  • Outside Ontario? Contact techsupport@blythacademyonline.com to confirm credit transfer eligibility.

No. Ontario online credits hold the same value as in-class credits. However, always check university/college policies on:

  • E-learning credits.
  • Repeated courses.
  • Courses taken outside your home school.

Yes! Students in Canada and abroad can complete their OSSD 100% online with Blyth Academy.

To earn an OSSD, students must:

  • Earn 30 credits (including required courses).
  • Pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).
  • Complete 40 community service hours.
