Blyth Academy Mississauga Student Wins National Title in Synchro Skating

Blyth Academy Mississauga is celebrating a great achievement from one of our own. Grade 12 student Tiffany and her synchronized skating team, NEXXICE Junior, captured the 2025 Canadian National Championship, their first national title since 2023.

Delivering a dynamic and unforgettable performance to the Kill Bill soundtrack, NEXXICE Junior skated with unmatched precisionand unity. Their performance earned them a commanding 10‑point lead over the next place team, a new Canadian scoring record.

“Tiffany’s achievements are a powerful example of what is possible when passion, discipline, and perseverance come together. Winning a national championship while balancing the demands of elite sport and academics speaks volumes about her character and work ethic. We are incredibly proud to celebrate Tiffany’s success and to support students who pursue excellence both inside the classroom and out on the rink. We couldn’t be prouder of Tiffany and all that she continues to achieve.”

—Nicholas Catania, Principal, Blyth Academy Mississauga

We caught up with Tiffany to hear about the experience, the sacrifices behind the success, and how she balances elite sport with her academic life at Blyth Academy.

“Winning nationals felt very rewarding and emotional.”

When Tiffany talks about her team’s big win, one word comes up again and again: meaningful.

“Winning nationals felt very rewarding and emotional, and it felt like all the hard work we put into this season really paid off. Sharing that moment with my teammates and coaches made it very meaningful because we had supported each other through many challenges and setbacks along the way.”

Leading up to Nationals, Tiffany trained through most of winter break, resting for only four days around the holidays.

“Our training was pretty intense leading up to Nationals. Our ice is usually three to four hours with one to two hours of off‑ice training,” she explains.

Balancing Academics and Elite Sport

Competing at a national level requires great time management, and Tiffany has mastered it with the help of the Blyth Mississauga community.

“I’ve learned to manage my time carefully. I communicate with my teachers when my schedule gets too overwhelming.”

She adds that Blyth’s structure has made a real difference:

“Having only one or two classes each term has definitely helped me balance things.”

Support That Matters

Tiffany credits Blyth Academy’s teachers and staff for helping her thrive both on and off the ice.

“The teachers and staff at Blyth are very accommodating and supportive. Their flexibility and clear communication have helped me manage my coursework with skating. I always feel comfortable reaching out whenever I need support.”

What’s next?

The season isn’t over yet. Tiffany and NEXXICE Junior are now preparing for international competitions in Boston and Latvia, with hopes of qualifying for Team Canada at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Poland.

“I’m trying to focus on the current season, but I hope to keep my passion for skating alive for a long time.”

Looking Toward the Future

Beyond the rink, Tiffany has her sights set on an academic path she’s eager to pursue.

“For post-secondary, I hope to study business and management. I’m especially interested in Western University and the Ivey Business School. And, of course, I want to keep skating alongside my studies.”

Congratulations, Tiffany!

We are incredibly proud of Tiffany’s hard work, resilience, and excellence, both as an athlete and as a Blyth Academy student. Her dedication exemplifies what it means to chase a dream with discipline.

Congratulations to Tiffany and the entire NEXXICE Junior team on your national title and new Canadian record! We’ll be cheering you on as you take the world stage next.
