Blyth Academy News
Over the past decade, the role of a Guidance Counsellor has changed tremendously, even more so in the past few years, as our youth face new challenges throughout their educational journeys. For example, I started my role as a Guidance Counsellor, not realizing the impact I would have on my students and how my relationships with my students could be life changing.
Our Blyth Academy schools are fulfilling a group-wide commitment made by Globeducate in 2019 that all schools in the group would become Eco-Schools. Despite challenges raised by the pandemic, almost half of Globeducate schools are now Certified Eco Schools including all Blyth Academy campuses.
Ty Nelson, former student from Blyth Academy Downsview Park for Elite Athletics, was drafted by the Seattle Kraken 68th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. As part of the Advanced Hockey Program at Blyth Academy Downsview Park from 2016-2020, Ty was able to focus on hockey training and academics, allowing him to exceed in both areas.
This year, Blyth Academy The Glebe was recognized by Globeducate as Canada’s Top School of the Year. This achievement is a testament to the dedication, talent and support of the amazing staff in Ottawa and the families who trust them to take care of their children every year.
Congratulations to our 2022 graduates! Over the past two weeks, graduation ceremonies have taken place at our eight Ontario campuses (Burlington, Downsview Park, Etobicoke, Lawrence Park, London, Mississauga, Waterloo, Whitby). Parents and families were in attendance as were guest speakers and principals and staff.
Once a year, Globeducate Debates gives students aged 10 to 18 in Globeducate schools the opportunity to pitch their ideas against an opposing team in another Globeducate school in another country. Between June 13th and 17th 2022, a team of Blyth Academy Burlington students took part in the annual student debate competition.
