Every year Blyth Academy helps hundreds of students to travel around the world to take part in experiential education and transformative travel. If you are interested in travelling with us this summer, but for financial reasons you are unable to take part in our programs, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship. Scholarships range from $250 to full funding. The scholarship committee looks for students with financial need who have strong academic records, demonstrate community and school involvement and have an interest in travel.

Application Criteria

To apply for a Blyth Scholarship candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Students who for financial reasons would not be able to participate in the program
• Grade 10, 11 or 12 student
• Minimum 75-80% average
• Canadian citizen
• Community and school involvement
• Exhibits strong leadership characteristics and personal integrity
• Interested in travel

Application Documents

Applications must include the following documents and completed forms:

1. Blyth International Summers Application Form
   - Please print and return the completed form
2. Scholarship Application
   - Please print and return the completed form
3. Short Essay
   - Please provide a 500 word essay exploring why you would like to study abroad and how you believe you will contribute to your chosen program.
4. Program deposit of $750 plus registration fee of $95. Note: If your scholarship application is declined or the scholarship amount is insufficient to allow you to travel with Blyth, you can request a return of your application deposit if you do not wish to attend.
5. High school transcript – transcripts can be obtained from your guidance office.
6. Most recent report card
7. One reference letter – a letter from either a teacher or a leader in your community.
8. Letter of financial need – a personal letter from a parent/guardian outlining your financial need.

Application Process

Deadline for International Summer Credit programs: February 28, 2010
Deadline for International Summer Community Service programs: April 1, 2010

Complete applications can be submitted anytime between mid-October and February 28. Applicants will be contacted within one week of submitting an application to confirm the application has been received; however, final scholarship decisions will not be available until the end of March.
