Our program
provides an exceptional opportunity for students interested
in pursuing business or commerce at the university level.
Taught by leading faculty from the top business schools
in Canada, the program focuses on the challenges and
principles of conducting business across cultural lines,
as well as the art of negotiation. Company visits, lectures,
and case studies are designed to provide the knowledge
base and leadership skills that will give our students
the necessary edge for admission into the best undergraduate
business programs.
London
Our first week will be spent in the ‘Square Mile’
examining international finance, mergers and acquisitions,
and the role of government in multi-national companies. We
will take up residence at the London
School of Economics to fully immerse ourselves in our
studies. Students will visit several leading companies, and
will see many of London’s famous sights on our city
tour and our Thames river ride. Students will also have a
chance to visit the Bank
of England Museum in the financial district.
Dubai
Our second week will be spent exploring the fast-paced city
of Dubai and introducing students to the petro-economies of
the Middle East. Here, we will also focus on several operating
companies in the Gulf as we learn about government and private
sector growth strategies in the region. Visits will include
the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the Dubai
Silicon Oasis Authority, and a meeting with Ontario Ministry
of Economic Development and Trade Representative in Dubai.
Interlude in Hong Kong
On our way to Shanghai we will break from our work for a 3
day visit to Hong
Kong and Macau,
combining one of the world’s leading international financial
centres with an entertainment centre of global stature. Students
will be given time to explore the cultural side of Hong Kong,
without missing exciting night markets, and trendy spots like
Hong Kong’s own “Soho” district and then
sail out to spend the day exploring the former Portuguese
colony of Macau.
Shanghai
We will spend our last 10 days in China exploring the engine
of China’s growth — Shanghai. In this environment,
students will come to understand the export-driven growth
of the Far East, the emergence of the domestic market, and
the working relationship between a communist government and
a capitalist economy. Our visits will include Wuxi
Pharma, the Shanghai
Future [Stock] Exchange and other exciting international
companies. We will also attend the 2010
World Expo in Shanghai! Our program will culminate with
a final-night banquet that will include cruise beneath the
breathtaking Shanghai skyline!
