Island hop with us in heavenly Hawaii and take in all
of the wonders the archipelago has to offer. From the
stunning volcanoes of the Big Island to the lush valleys
of Maui and the beautiful beaches of Kauai, we will
experience it all.
Big Island
Our adventure will begin on the Big Island, the youngest of
the Hawaiian Islands, with three days spent swimming, snorkelling,
and exploring the sunny west coast. We will visit the magnificent
and spiritual volcano, Mauna
Kea, and watch the sun set from above the clouds before
attending our very own stargazing party. Mauna Kea, the tallest
mountain in the world measured from the sea floor, is home
to the world's largest observatory for optical astronomy.
This island offers eleven of the world’s thirteen climatic
zones, an astonishing diversity of flora and fauna, and an
amazing array of activities.
Maui
Known as the valley isle, our base on Maui will be the beautiful
old whaling town of Lahaina. After class, students will be
able to explore the shops and restaurants that this vibrant
coastal town has to offer, relax around the pool at our stunning
resort or enjoy the surf only blocks away from our condos.
Kauai
Finally, we will fly to the beautiful island of Kauai.
Known as the Garden Island, Kauai is the oldest, most lush
of the Hawaiian chain, and was the filming site of “Tropic
Thunder” and “Jurassic Park.” This island,
which will be our home base for the program, has some of the
best surfing and beachcombing in the world. Students will
have the opportunity to explore incredible coral reefs from
remote beaches, snorkel among sea turtles in crystal-clear
waters, try the ancient Polynesian art of outrigger canoeing,
and hike around the most well-preserved island in Hawaii.
ACTIVITIES
After school each day, students will be able to relax on adjacent
white sand beaches, attend our surf and hula schools, or choose
to river kayak, scuba dive, snorkel or zipline in this tropical
paradise. In addition, they can choose to participate in community-service work, which will focus on environmental and fun-filled
community outreach initiatives. Our experience in Hawaii would
not be complete without attending one of Hawaii's most traditional
events, the Luau,
where our final banquet will be held. We will end our Hawaiian
adventure eating traditional foods and enjoying Polynesian
dancing and entertainment.
