Imagine studying
film or drama in California among the stars and glitter
of L.A. and then heading north to San Francisco, stopping
at all the hot spots along the way. We will take part
in workshops at Universal Studios, be part of a studio
audience, and tour live sets at Warner Bros. Studios.
Our film program places students behind the camera to
film, in front of the camera to act, and alongside the
camera to direct. Students will learn to write, edit,
and be part of a production team as they produce an
original film.
Los Angeles
to San Francisco
With Los Angeles and San Francisco as our classroom, we will
visit the major studios, attend working sets, and explore
the history of film. Daily film screenings will be followed
by on-set production work. Students will learn how to use
our professional digital video cameras, and, on a rotating
basis, will have the opportunity to try their hand at all
key production roles. Two of our mornings will be spent at
Universal
Studios taking a course focused on directing and cinematography,
with our afternoons free to have fun at Universal Studios
Theme Park. We will also tour live sets at Warner
Bros. Studios and be part of a TV show audience. While
in L.A., we will also attend the annual Hollywood
Bowl to celebrate the Fourth of July! Our first two and
a half weeks of the program will be based in L.A., followed
by trips to Carmel,
and the surfing capital of the world, Santa Cruz, before wrapping
up with five days in San Francisco. Here we will stay at our
funky cartoon-inspired hotel and tour Japan town and Haight-Ashbury.
On our last night in San Fran, we will celebrate with a final
banquet and awards night, featuring a screening of our student-produced
films!
Hollywood Our
hotel in L.A. is an ideal location for us as we explore
the sights and sounds of L.A. and discover the reasons this
city is in the epicentre of film production worldwide. Minutes
from Universal Studios, Hollywood Boulevard, the Sunset Strip,
and Melrose Avenue, we are perfectly poised to immerse ourselves
in a world of filmmaking. For breaks in our schedule and afternoons
off, our hotel features an outdoor pool and sundeck, where
we can enjoy the summer in the California sun.
San Fransisco Hotel
Tomo, located in Japan Town, is newly renovated and inspired
by Japanese pop culture, and has been rated one of the Top
10 coolest hotels in California. Hotel Tomo is centrally located
within walking distance of Union Square, China Town and Haight-Ashbury.
