London
Our first stop will be a week in central London as we explore
all that the city has to offer up-and-coming art and design
students. We will tour the city, hitting the famed galleries
and all the main attractions including a tour of the Victoria
and Albert Museum focusing on fashion and The Museum of
London Photography Exhibits. We will spend three days in a
workshop with Susan Backhouse of Fashion
Antidote in the funky Brick Lane area. During this workshop
we will work with Christopher
Rainbow, Agnes Lloyd-Platt a fashion photography student
from London College of Fashion whose photography work includes
fashion
photography and Chris Neuman of Belle
Sauvage. Blyth has also been granted an exclusive behind
the scenes tour of the Horrockses
exhibition at The Fashion
and Textile Museum of London before it becomes open to
the public. Though we will certainly be busy there will be
plenty of time to visit the world-renowned shopping districts,
boutiques and designers. We will stay at the University
of the Arts London to fully immerse ourselves.
Barcelona
From London we fly to Barcelona,
one of the most avant-garde cities on the continent. Here
we will bask in a city filled with design wonder, touring
the UNESCO World Heritage sites and renowned Gaudi
architecture, dining at the many Spanish cafes and relaxing
at nearby beaches. We will also take time to explore the famous
fashion boutiques of Barcelona, meeting with young, up and
coming designers and touring the Textile
and Costume Museum to view their new permanent exhibit
“Dressing the Body” dealing with fashion from
the 1600’s to the present day. We will also spend our
time exploring the many photo galleries in this artistic city.
Milan
Our third stop is Milan, home to some to the hottest runway
shows in the world, and a hub for risk-taking contemporary
art. Here will we explore the fluid relationship between culture
and design taking the time to visit local boutiques and museums
including the La
Scala Theatre Museum.
Paris
We will spend our final week in the City of Light, a city
bursting with innovation and creativity in the fashion, art
and design world. We will have classes in the mornings, and
in the afternoons we will tour French fashion houses including
an exclusive tour of the Didier
Ludot Fashion House, and a visit to the Yves
Saint Laurent Foundation exhibition at the Petit Palais,
as well as a tour with the conservator of the Pierre
Cardin Museum. We will attend fashion exhibits, and visit
art galleries, without missing any of the noteworthy sites
of Paris. We will conclude our program with a final-night
banquet and awards ceremony at the stunning Château
de Chantilly. Located just outside Paris and surrounded
by 155 hectares of parkland, the Château’s beauty
and history will captivate us as we celebrate our trip and
enjoy a spectacular feast.
