Our fabulous Spanish odyssey will begin
in the capital city of Madrid, where students will find
themselves immersed in its history and culture. Then
Pamplona for the famous “Running of the Bulls”
before continuing to Bilbao and an in-depth visit to
the Guggenheim Museum. Finally, we will take in the
wonderfully funky city of Barcelona and learn to live
like the Catalonians do!
Madrid
Our program will start in Madrid,
an enthralling city whose empire dominated Europe and stretched
from South America to the Philippines. We will explore the
sites from our hotel, located in the heart of the city, steps
away from the Prado
Museum, where we will take in the masterpieces of Velazquez
and Goya. Our evenings will be spent enjoying the flamenco
dancing and café culture that defines Spain.
Pamplona
Departing Madrid, we will continue to Pamplona for the Running
of the Bulls. This will be followed by two nights in Bilbao,
home of the extraordinary Guggenheim
Museum. We will then continue on to Barcelona.
Barcelona
Our home base for the program will be the capital of Catalonia
— Barcelona,
one of the most avant-garde cities on the Continent. We will
be staying in a four-star hotel centrally located in the heart
of the city. Fully air-conditioned and wired, it offers very
comfortable accommodations and great food. We will be steps
from the Barrio Gotica, where we will live and breathe the
architecture of Antoni
Gaudi and feel the pulse of La Ramblas. Morning classes
will be followed by excursions in the city and to nearby beaches.
Evenings will be spent on organized outings to concerts, tapas
in the cafes, or simply taking in the famed El Paseo de Gracia.
We will conclude our Spanish journey with a first-class banquet
and awards ceremony on our final night!
