Always dreamed of swimming with dolphins? Now is your chance! Departing our resort in the morning we will travel by boat to Dolphin House Reef where wild dolphins congregate. Jumping into the water with our snorkel gear we will swim and play alongside these magnificent creatures. There will be plenty of opportunities to swim and relax throughout the day. After an exciting hour drive through the Eastern Desert we will arrive at a traditional Bedouin Camp where we have the opportunity to ride camels while gazing upon a spectacular desert sunset. A barbeque dinner will be served in authentic tents as we sit on embroidered cushions and traditional Arabic carpets. Reclining on the cushions allows you to gaze above into the galaxy of stars to make the night extremely memorable before we journey back to our resort.

One cannot go visit Hurghada without taking a trip to Giftun Island. All the imagery of perfect postcards is there: turquoise waters, fine powdery white sand, pristine coral reefs, breathtaking views, and a non-obtrusive natural architecture of straw and wooden huts, plain stones and grass shacks. Students are free to snorkel on the impressive coral heads scattered in the turquoise lagoon, walk along the sandy beach, jump into action at the beach-volley ground, or lounge around the beach soaking up the suns rays. Everyone will meet for lunch at the shadowy restaurant to have a scrumptious meal of fresh seafood and Italian specialties. We will return to the resort in the late afternoon.

Prepare yourself for an evening unlike any other you have ever experienced. While in Aswan we will be driven to the world famous Philae Temple where we will enjoy a sound a light show playing against the ancient temple itself. We will have an oppourtunity to see the temple as few others will ever have a chance to. We will then be driven back to our hotel by private coach.

This private tour to Soheil Island lets you meet and spend time with Nubian people in their village, allowing us to learn about the Nubian people and their culture. The island is home to a Nubian Village. Here you will visit a Nubian house and spend time with the Nubian people, learning about their history, culture and lifestyle. We will travel by felucca or motorized boat depending on the currents, and be accompanied by our Egyptologist guide.

Bring a Smiles to Egypt’s Cancer Hospital

Volunteer with your fellow students and supervisors at Egypt’s Children’s Cancer Hospital in Cairo. By committing to this opportunity you will not only be donating your time, but you will also add to the financial contribution that will be made to this worthy hospital. The aim of Egypt’s 57357 Hospital is to improve the quality of life for all children with cancer and to find a cure for this aggressive disease. As well, it is dedicated to caring for its child patients and their families. Students will join in this aim by brightening the lives of children on this volunteer day.
After a tour of the hospital, students will work with patients on a craft activity (making masks or mobiles) in one of the hospital’s playrooms. The finished products can be hung up in kids’ rooms to brighten up their days and remind them that people care about them. It would be greatly appreciated if participating students can bring materials to donate to the playrooms and will be used for craft activities. (See the ‘before your trip hours’ below for a list of needed supplies and to learn how this can earn you more community hours). Approximately 4-5 hours of work can be completed and these hours are fully accredited towards your community service requirements in Ontario.

Donations for the Children’s Cancer Hospital playrooms are needed to add to the activities for the kids. Items such as puzzles, paint by number sets, easy read English and Arabic books and art materials (specifically small pots of paints, all sizes of paint brushes, sparkle and regular glue, coloured string, paper plates, coloured construction paper, markers, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, and things to glue onto paper for pictures) are needed. Collect these from your friends and family and bring them to donate during your trip. You may earn up to a maximum of two hours.

You are responsible for carrying your donation items in your own suitcase. When you donate the items be sure your community service supervisor logs them in order to process and confirm your pre-trip hours.
