Cozumel-Chichen
Itza Full Day Excursion ($189.00 CAD) |
The
ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza are Mexico’s
most famous archaeological site. It is the best
example of the Mayan Civilization and is an essential
element in understanding the culture. Located
in the Yucatan, Chichen Itza offers a well preserved
and dramatic example of a Mayan City.
Our full day excursion starts with a boat trip
from Cozumel to the mainland and a coach trip
of about 2 hours to Chichen Itza. We will have
lunch at the site and have a private tour that
will bring it alive. Castillo de Kukulkan, which
means the Castle of Kukulkan, the feathered Serpent
God, is probably the most recognized pyramid in
the world. Incredibly, this pyramid has four stairways
each with 91 steps plus one step at the top which
is common to all four sides for a total of exactly
365 steps - the exact number of days in a solar
year.
On the return trip, we will stop at one of
the Mayan Riviera’s famed cenotes (sinkhole)
for a fresh water swim beneath waterfalls and
vines before boarding our boat and returning
to our island home on Cozumel.

| Cozumel-Tulum
& Playa del Carmen Full Day Excursion ($159.00
CAD) |
Our
full day excursion begins early with a ferry ride
from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen. From there we
board a coach and drive to the famous Mayan ruins
of Tulum.
Tulum, meaning fence or wall, is the only walled
city on the Caribbean. It was built by the Mayans
and has a very dramatic location because it is
built on a cliffside overlooking the Caribbean
Sea. Its Temple of Frescoes and beautiful wall
paintings makes it one of the most visited historic
sites in Mexico.
After our tour we will have a chance to swim and
relax on the beautiful white sandy beach.
We will then drive back to Playa del Carmen and
enjoy a free afternoon for lunch, shopping and
exploring this beach side city. There are many
shops along 5th Avenue (Quinto Avenida) offering
many items to take home as souvenirs.
From here we will board the ferry and return
to Cozumel in time for dinner at the hotel.

A DIFFERENCE WITH THE COMMUNITY PROGRAM |
We
are spending our summer in one of the most beautiful
and pristine ecosystems in the Americas but we
are also living in a community where people and
places are in need of help. Under the direction
and supervision of our staff, students will have
opportunities such as teaching local children,
painting a school or doing an inventory on a reef
to establish the environmental impact of cruise
ships coming to Cozumel.
The hours you accumulate on this program can
be used towards the 40 hours required to graduate
from secondary school but the main reward will
be your sense of contact with the community
and the pleasure of giving back.
