Surfing is an integral part of Australian culture, and we will learn to surf where it all takes place on Sydney’s beautiful Manly Beach. We will depart to the beach after breakfast and spend the morning taking our lessons. During the afternoon we will be able to try out our new moves. The Whitsunday Islands are the perfect spot to jump in a kayak and paddle the day away. Warm breezes, sunny skies and clear waters will make this a kayaking adventure not to be missed.

Our guide will first introduce us to safe paddling techniques and then help us into our stable kayaks. We will explore the sites, secret coves and islands of this majestic coastline.

We will walk down to the beach after class and embark on an outdoor adventure second to none. After an afternoon of sites and exercise the group will return to the hotel in time for dinner.

You can’t go to Australia and return home not having seen both a kangaroo and a crocodile. Thankfully, kangaroos can be seen almost anywhere after dusk, it’s the crocodiles that are a bit trickier.

Jumping in a tractor we will enter the largest breeding grounds in the world for estuarine crocodiles. Here, we will be able to get close to the animals and observe them in their natural habitats from the safety of our tractor.

Once we have had our fill of crocs on land we will hop in a boat and cruise down the river that feeds the wetlands to catch sight of these animals in water.

Our tour will culminate with a traditional Aussie BBQ …. this time making sure we are as far away from the crocs as possible!

New Zealand offers some of the world's most breathtaking heliskiing and heliboarding. The Aoraki/Mount Cook region is a vast area of huge and heavily glaciated peaks. The day will be all about thousands of metres of untracked skiing and boarding, set against the view of New Zealand’s highest peaks. This really is the true wilderness adventure!

You will be picked-up at the hotel and transferred to the heli-pad. Here you will be outfitted in equipment suitable for powder conditions. You will board the helicopter with a trained guide and start the 750 metre climb to the first drop point. You will spend the day skiing or boarding several heli-ski runs with one of New Zealand’s most reputable operators. There will be time to relax and let it all sink in with a nice picnic lunch. Students will return to the hotel in time for dinner with stories of great adventures to tell.

Our proximity to the Great Barrier Reef is an excellent opportunity for students to experience some of the most incredible diving the world has to offer. The Great Barrier Reef is a massive chain of coral reefs and beyond this structure of living organisms lays the cleanest body of water on the globe! It is a wonderful, exciting and indeed memorable experience to dive here. We will be diving with trained dive masters who dive conscientiously and take safety very seriously.

1 Dive: Whitsunday Islands: Certified and non-certified divers welcome
This dive will be off the sailing excursion on the Great Barrier Reef during the time we are in the Whitsunday Islands.

This dive will take place off of the sailing yachts. We will have an afternoon excursion that will take us off the yachts to explore the under water world of the reef.

For snorkelling enthusiasts, or for the individuals who want to take a look at what is below the surface, the splendour of Fiji's natural world is a given. This adventure will give students the opportunity to experience the reef from the surface of the water. Due to its shallow nature, and the abundance of marine life, snorkelling is an experience that is suitable for everyone and an opportunity that must not be missed.

This experience will take the group on a short boat ride to a private island where equipment will be distributed and the exploration can commence. Snorkelling equipment is included in this excursion along with packed lunches and drinks.

Full Day Volunteer Opportunity:

Service is an important aspect to every Blyth International Summer Program. We try to instil a sense of global responsibility in all of our students as they explore the world with us. Past Community Service projects have included working closely with a social development NGO, planning youth-based programming, repairing dilapidated playgrounds, and organizing elements of fundraisers, joining Regional Parks for clean ups etc.

The hours earned on this trip can be applied to the ministry required minimum for graduation.

Donations (new and used) will be of benefit to many organizations, schools and orphanages in the areas that we visit. Items such as school supplies, table games and puzzles (of various difficulty), paint by numbers, books (easy English or Greek) and art materials are needed. Clothing donations will also be accepted. Collect these from your friends and family and bring them to donate during your trip. You may earn up to a maximum of two hours.

You are responsible for carrying your donation items in your own suitcase. When you donate the items, be sure to let your supervisor know so they can track you extra hours!
