How to
Apply
To reserve a spot in Project Cuba, Ethiopia or Tanzania, a
deposit of $750 by cheque or credit card must accompany your
application. If you are purchasing the Medical Insurance and
Cancellation Protection Plan, this payment must also be included
with your deposit.
A second payment of $500 by cheque or credit
card is due 30 days after receipt of the application. The
balance of the program fee and applicable taxes are due 120
days prior to departure by cheque only. The travel portion
of your program will be paid on your behalf to a registered
travel agency. We cannot guarantee your place in the program
if the balance is unpaid by that date.
CANCELLATION
All cancellations must be made in writing with appropriate
documentation.
• If cancelling 120 days prior to departure all payments,
except medical insurance and cancellation
protection, will be refunded minus a handling fee of
$100.00.
• From 120 to 90 days prior, 50% of the program fee plus
medical insurance and cancellation
protection
is not refunded.
• Within 90 days, no monies are refunded.
NO REFUNDS AFTER THE PROGRAM HAS
BEGUN.
• No refunds will be given for participants who voluntarily
withdraw during the program nor will there be any refund for
any participant who is asked to leave the program for use
of drugs, abuse of alcohol or disobedience of the rules of
the program.
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENT
The travel provider reserves blocks of round-trip seats on
specific flights. Due to the nature of group fares, it is
not possible for individuals to change their departure or
return dates. Transfers to and from the airports are included
for the group flights only. Individuals who make their own
travel arrangements are responsible for their own transportation
to and from the airport. Please note that we do not have access
to the participant rooms either before or after the dates
of our programs. Participants who arrive before the first
day or who need to stay after the last day of the programs
must make their own arrangements. Those participants who,
for personal reasons, do not want to use the flight arrangements
included in the program fee may deduct the travel portion
from the program fee.
CHANGES TO THE
PROGRAM
View Foundation reserves the right to cancel any program due
to insufficient enrolment 90 days prior to departure. Participants
will be offered any other program that does have sufficient
enrolment in any destination or a full refund.
CHANGES TO THE
ITINERARY
View Foundation reserves the right to alter the location or
itinerary of any of the programs. Due to unforeseeable circumstances,
it may happen that we are obliged to make changes to the itinerary
as it appears in the brochure. In this event, we would endeavour
to minimize the changes, and to provide alternatives of comparable
quality.
DOCUMENTS AND
VISA REQUIREMENTS
Canadian and American citizens require a valid passport and
a visa for travel to Ethiopia. Participants must make sure
that theirs is up-to-date and valid for at least six months
after their return date. Other nationalities should contact
the nearest Consulate or Embassy for details on visa requirements.
View Foundation is not responsible for participants who travel
without the required documents.
GENERAL BEHAVIOUR
View Foundation reserves the right to dismiss any participant
for alcohol and/or drug abuse or for continued disobedience
of the rules and to send the offending participant home from
the program at their parents' expense. Participants are expected
to attend and be on time for all classes and academic activities
and to complete all of their course requirements. Hitchhiking
or the operation of motorized vehicles is strictly forbidden
while participating in the program. Participants are expected
to conform with the laws of the country while participating
in the program. Any participant found in possession of, or
using, illegal drugs will be sent home from the program at
their parents' expense and may be subject to penalties under
the law of the country that they are visiting.
LIABILITY AND
RESPONSIBILITY
View Foundation will accept no responsibility for the travel
arrangements that are recreational and not related to the
program or the housing portion. The travel service provider,
the operator, their agents and/or suppliers of services act
only as agents for the traveller and accept no responsibility
for the services of any aircraft, vessel, train, motorcoach
or any other conveyance used in connection with these programs,
nor for any delay, loss or accident to travellers or baggage
occasioned by such services from whatsoever cause. In the
event that it becomes necessary for the comfort and/or well-being
of the passenger, or for any other reason, to alter the itinerary
or arrangements, such alterations may be made without penalty
to the tour operator. The right is reserved to cancel any
program and to decline to accept any person as a member of
the program at any time. Any IATA or ATC member carrier may
be used for the programs. The airlines concerned are not to
be held responsible for any act, omission or event during
the time the passengers are not on board the aircraft. The
passenger ticket in use by the airline, when issued, shall
constitute the sole contract between the airline and the purchasers
of those tickets and/or passengers.
