Bhutan & Nepal
This fascinating program starts in the World
Heritage city of Kathmandu, Nepal. Then we
head to the ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon,’
where the Bhutan Canada Foundation will
assist us in this rare opportunity to tour a
country that has one of the best-preserved
cultures in the world.
We begin this
once-in-a-lifetime
adventure in the 2000
year old city of Kathmandu. Here we will
tour the small alleys, bamboo buildings and
religious sites that make up this
ancient place.
Next we head to Bhutan to spend our time
participating in local culture and community
based activities. We will also work in schools
and assist locals in environmental efforts.
After work, it’s time for play! We will visit
Paro, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang, and
the capital city of Thimphu. Next we will take
a trek to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery
and visit a number of dzongs in which monks
are trained. As well, we will learn about the
national sport of archery, be fitted in national
dress for volunteer work, visit the office of
the Bhutan Canada Foundation, do some
shopping, and learn about the politics, food
and culture in Bhutan!
